Samsung confirms its leadership in technology by announcing the production of RAM with super-fast speeds

Samsung has confirmed its leadership in the DRAM memory market by starting mass production of DDR5 DRAM with 16GB capacity using 12nm technology. These memory modules offer extraordinary speeds and high security features. Samsung confirms that the new chips produced by this process reduce power consumption by up to 25% compared to the previous generation, while boosting chip productivity by up to 20%. Additionally, these modern RAMs will support speeds of up to 7200Mbps!

Speaking about this industrial achievement, Jooyoung Lee, Executive Director of DRAM Products and Technology at Samsung, said, “The use of a different process technology has enabled Samsung to deliver DDR5 DRAM chips with 12nm technology that excel in both performance and energy efficiency.” However, regular consumers will need to wait to use the new DDR5 RAM, as it is being used in programs such as data centers, artificial intelligence, and next-generation programming.

Samsung explained that the development of 12nm DRAM was made possible thanks to the introduction of high-efficiency memory and new materials, as well as efforts to reduce operating voltage and noise to achieve an optimized solution. While the capacity of these 16GB DRAM chips remains the same, their expected benefits lie in energy efficiency, speed, and cost-effectiveness. Samsung revealed that DDR5 DRAM with 12nm technology reduces power consumption by 23% compared to the previous generation and boosts chip productivity by up to 20%.

The RAM will come with ODECC (On-Demand Error Correction Code) technology, which is applied in DDR5 to maintain data reliability and stability, ensuring maximum performance. ODECC essentially eliminates single-bit errors, improving reliability even with the heavy data demands of massive datasets.

With 7200Mbps speeds, this DRAM is a significant feature, and Samsung noted that theoretically, this speed would allow for transferring two 30GB UHD films in just one second. However, the company did not specify whether this speed is the same as the one promoted in the previous generation of 14nm DRAM chips, so there may be potential for increased speed through overclocking.

Samsung has confirmed that it has tested and ensured compatibility of the new DDR5 DRAM with 12nm and 16GB capacity with AMD systems after comprehensive compatibility testing. The company is also working closely with other unspecified companies to bring this technology to market.

In general, the launch of Samsung’s DDR5 DRAM with 12nm technology and 16GB capacity is a significant milestone in the development of high-performance memory solutions. It is expected to offer lower power consumption, higher speeds, and improved productivity, making it an attractive option for high-performance applications like data centers, artificial intelligence, and next-generation programming. Even though the memory chips still have a capacity of 16GB, their expected benefits include energy efficiency, speed, and cost-effectiveness. These RAM modules are likely to see widespread use in various applications over the coming years
